What is homeopathy?
The word Homeopathy basically means similar or like suffering.
It is based on the "Law of Similars" or "like cures like".
For example if someone had a headache, they would be treated with the homeopathic
form of a substance that in its raw form would cause a healthy person to
get the same type of headache. By doing so it allows the body to work with
and stimulate its own natural healing process without suppressing it. The
concept of homeopathy has been around since 450 BC. It was not until the
late 17th century that Dr. Samuel Hahnemann developed a medicinal system
of homeopathy.
How
does it work?
It uses tiny doses of natural substances from a plant, mineral, or
animal source to stimulate a person's own ability to heal themselves within.
Again it is based on the "Law of Similars" or "like cures
like". A practitioner is looking at the body and person as a whole.
All symptoms are seen as signs that the body is trying to heal itself and
all ailments are seen as imbalances within the body. It is important the
practitioner be aware of all signs and symptoms. The remedy is found and
matched based upon that person's specific needs. There is not one remedy
that cures all people having the same illness. Remedies are based upon
one's own individuality of the illness at hand
Is
it safe?
Homeopathic remedies have been proven for over two hundred years. They
are still as safe and effective today as they where back then in treating
ailments that are acute, chronic, physical and emotional. Homeopathic remedies
are even safe for babies, children, pregnant and nursing women as well
as animals. Homeopathic remedies can be used along with other forms of
health therapies. Homeopathic remedies are in No way a substitute for medical
care or medications please consult your physician before changing your
current course of care.
"The
highest ideal of therapy is to restore health rapidly, gently, permanently;
to remove and destroy the whole disease in the shortest, surest, least
harmful way, according to clearly comprehensible principles."
Samuel
Hahnemann, Organon "The Father of Homeopathy" 1755-1843
